Where our story began... "The Proposal"

April 16th, 201o. "The Proposal"

So Adam and I had been talking about getting married for a couple of months. We wanted to wait until Adam was done with school for the semester and until we had some more money saved up... We pretty much knew since day 1 that we were going to get married. It's true, "when you know, you know" and we KNEW! Anyways, the whole week of the proposal was crazy for us.. and Adam did a great job of hiding it all. I honestly had no idea it was going down so soon. I kept bugging him about it every day and I'm sure he was getting tired of me asking about the ring and if he picked one and when he's going to propose.. haha..

Tuesday we had an appointment with our bishop and right before our appointment, my friend Tara had an appointment with him. I guess she knew more than I did because she told our bishop, after he had asked how we're doing, that we were doing great and that Adam took my parents out to dinner the night before. Well, I guess that bishop didn't know that that stuff is kept secret so when we were in meeting with him he said to Adam "sounds like you guys are thinking about getting married.. Adam said yes we are and then the bishop continued with "and you took her parents out to dinner last night?" I was SHOCKED! It was so funny that it came out like that. We all got a good laugh though and the bishop felt so bad for spilling the beans! It made for a great conversation that night on the way home and Adam told me how wonderful the dinner was and everything that was said to my parents and everything they said to him and how nervous he was. I could imagine how scared he was, but anyone who knows my parents knows that they are the easiest people to get along with and nothing and no one is scared of them :) He said my dad of course said yes and that the night turned out great and appologized for lying to me. (He told me he was at the school library studying that night) My parents also apologized because they told me they went out to dinner with some "neighbors"

We got back to the house that night and I had one question for Adam.. When was he proposing??? He had always told me that he plans on proposing to me the day after he asks my dad. So I thought for sure it was going down the next day and asked more and more questions. He told me that he honestly didn't have the ring yet and that he needed to wait at least until his next paycheck. He said he just thought it was a good time to take my parents out and get permission before he bought the ring. Well, I believed him and I truthfully was a little bit bummed. I thought I was going to have a ring on my finger that next day!

Well a couple days went by and still, nothing. By then I figured Adam was probably serious about not having a ring yet. I remember him coming over Thursday night and we had a great talk and he told me he has not been able to afford the ring yet but that he definitely plans on popping the question as soon as he can. I felt good about things and was okay with the fact that I just needed to be patient. Turns out I didn't need to be patient for too long!!!!!

Here's how it all went down... The next morning, Friday April 16th I woke up SO sick! I called in to work and my boss was being so weird about me calling in. She was not letting it happen. She told me "it would be in my best interest to go into work that day" I was seriously so confused and so mad that they weren't letting me have the day off. They could tell I was sick ( I literally sounded like a man) and it was a Friday. Fridays were always sooooooo slow at work! I decided to not make a big deal out of it and really did not want to lose my job so I got up, did absolutely NOTHING to myself to get ready and decided to stick it out one more day.

It was a pretty normal day. Super slow, not a lot of phone calls and everyone knew I was sick so they were letting me just take it pretty easy. I had a blanket wrapped around me, PLENTY of cough syrup and my boyfriend was basically nowhere to be found that day. He told me he was going to be in a lot of meetings and had a busy schedule so he wouldn't be able to talk to me much. I was so sick and did not want to be at work any longer so at about 3:30 or 4:00 I asked if I could go home. I usually had to work until 6:00. Again, one of the nicest supervisors ever told me no. He felt so bad that I was sick and wanted to take care of me but he "just couldn't let me leave until he was done with a big project." By this point I was so annoyed. I just wanted to go home and crawl into my bed.

Well, at about 4:30 I got a call at my desk. It was our receptionist. She usually only calls if there's a delivery or someone is there to see me. I thought maybe Adam had sent flowers since I was sick or something... Well, I walked out and down to the lobby, still looking just as bad as I did that morning, to find my friend Tara waiting for me down in the lobby. Well at this moment I knew something was up. The receptionist and one of Adam's co-workers were video recording me and taking TONS of pictures. I was freaking out! A. I looked awful, B. I was nervous and had no clue what was going on and C. I did not feel good whatsoever! Well, Tara handed me a little envelope and said to me that she got "tickets for the bees game." Earlier that day, Adam and her thought it would be fun to do a little double date to the Bees game. Adam was supposed to get the tickets so I was way confused when Tara said she had them. I looked down at the envelope that supposedly had the tickets and right on it was written, "Destination #1: The Meeting"

Ohhh Boy! I knew right then what was going on and that it was going to be a long, but exciting night! :) Ryan, Adam's friend, told me that I needed to read what was in the envelope out loud so he could pick it up on video. I'm not kidding one bit, I sounded like a man. So not good timing!

But here is the result of the night... 5 envelopes, 5 different locations, all of my family members and his and one wild scavenger hunt! Adam did a great job planning the whole thing out. That is what he was doing all week when he told me he was at the school library studying. He was actually at home typing up all of these letters. He is so thoughtful and I cried reading every single letter. Each letter lead me to another location and each location had a significant meaning in our relationship. Location 1 was Ultradent: Where we work and where we met. Location 2 was Maverick ( we went and got hot chocolates and drove around getting to know each other) Location 3 was my parent's house where we had our first kiss, Location 4 was his brother, Aaron's house where he first told me he loved me and Location 5 was the Energy Solutions Arena where we went on our first date. It was to a Jazz game! Then my brother met me and my friend Tara, who was driving me around and recording me, at the Arena and handed me the last letter... Leading me to the Salt Lake Temple where I was to find Adam! :)

The envelopes...

I won't post every single letter but just know that each one was so cute and so thoughtful. Adam rememberred every little detail about each of those days and I will hold on to these letters forever! I am so lucky to have him, he is the sweetest man on this earth!

Once I got to the Salt Lake Temple, there he was.. Finally! I ran up to him and could not let go! It was so good to see him after all that had gone on that day. We walked around the temple for a little bit and finally stopped at a bench on the temple grounds. That is where he popped the question and I of course said YES!!!

Tara hid and recorded the whole thing and took tons of pictures.. I was so happy that so many of my close loved ones could be a part of that special day with me! I can not wait to spend the rest of my life and eternity with my best friend! I love you so much Adam Glenn Pace!!!

Pictures to come soon...
